Paranoid Android has just been updated to Paranoid Android 4.6 Beta 3 dubbed Solid Strawberry and brings new fixes and tweaks to the project. Paranoid Android is a project that offers custom ROMs based on Android, much like CyanogenMod.
The Paranoid Android project aims to offer you a ROM that will allow for customization and the implementation of new features offered by the mod. The Paranoid Android ROM focuses on bringing features like Google Now and a stock Android experience on your device. It offers quick settings panel, location switcher, immersive mode settings, dynamic system bars and allows you to set the visibility of the tiles Paranoid Android UI uses. Paranoid Android also features multitasking and a close all tabs feature, besides the simplified UI.
Paranoid Android and CyanogenMod are two of the most popular Android ROMs available, but you will have to root your device in order to benefit from the features they offer. Keep in mind that rooting your device will most likely void your phone’s warranty, so be prepared for that. With the upcoming Android L Lemon Meringue Pie release, we are wondering how Paranoid Android and CyanogenMod will get involved in the development of new ROMs for the OS. Android Lemon Meringue Pie promises to be a feature-filled, simplified OS with Material Design, so many of the Android enthusiasts out there might not even be interested in installing ROMs on the new OS.
Nonetheless, a new update for Paranoid Android has rolled out earlier today and it brought improvements to last week’s Beta version. Specifically, Paranoid Android 4.6 Beta 3 improves the Recents interface and dynamic system bars, besides bringing some bug fixes. The dynamic system bars icon animation received a cleanup and you can now tap anywhere outside of thumbnails in order to dismiss recent apps. Paranoid Android has also merged upstream changes to the CyanogenMod Theme Engine into the update as well. Here’s the changelog from Paranoid Android:
1. Clean up DSB icon animations
2. Crop thumbnails of portrait floating windows
3, Dismiss the redesigned recents menu on touches outside of the thumbnails
4. Tweak the design of the volume panel and Pie QS toggles
5. Merge Theme Engine changes by CM
For those of you who own Nexus devices, a OnePlus One or an Oppo Find 7, you can download the beta release of Paranoid Android 4.6 Solid Strawberry update from the Paranoid Android, whilst those of you who have different Android devices like the Galaxy S5, HTC One M8 or Sony Xperia Z3 can head on to check out legacy projects, which are builds for devices that aren’t officially supported by Paranoid Android.
