In honor of the 15th anniversary of Kingdom Hearts’ original PlayStation 2 release, Square Enix has announced Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 for the PlayStation 4, a remastered collection of all six titles in the series.
Coming from Paris Games Week, Square Enix has announced the collection will release March 28th, 2017, exactly 15 years after the original Japanese release of Kingdom Hearts and two weeks after Kingdom Hearts HD II.8 drops. The specific games in the collection are as follows:
- Kingdom Hearts Final Mix
- Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories
- Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days
- Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix
- Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix
- Kingdom Hearts Re:coded
The accompanying trailer boasts footage of some fan-favorite graphically enhanced scenes from all six of the games in the collection
Previously, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 and 2.5 Remixes were only available on PlayStaion 3. Now with Kingdom Hearts II.8, a collection releasing January 24th which includes Dream Drop Distance, X Back Cover, and the new 0.2: Birth by Sleep, and the upcoming Kingdom Hearts III announced for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (though still without a release date), PlayStation 4 owners will have access essentially every game in the franchise, or at least they will assuming the ever-elusive Kingdom Hearts 3 does indeed release someday.
