Price, Specs and Release Date for Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and 10.5 Revealed
We can finally set the rumor mill to rest, as official information about the highly anticipated tablets from Samsung, mainly the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 is finally official. The South Korean giant has recently announced that the two models are available for pre-order in the United States as of now (actually, they were released for pre-order yesterday, on the 13th of June). The two tablets will be shipped out later this month, and retailers as well as carriers will start offering them at the end of June or beginning of July. Both seem to be reasonably priced, with $399.99 being the tag for the Tab S 8.4, while its bigger sibling, the Tab S 10.5 will cost $499.99. Both models will have the same color schemes, which is not a lot in terms of variety: White or Titanium Bronze.
The tablets come with some high-end features, as expected. In terms of Display, we don’t really have to mention sizes, as the names of the tablets pretty much imply just how big they are. In both cases though, we’ll be seeing Super AMOLED displays, with Samsung’s new Adaptive Display technology and a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels. We have no complaints, and the resulting PPI amounts to 288 PPI for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and 359 PPI for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4. Not bad at all Samsung, not bad at all!
But what about under the hood? Well, high-end is Samsung’s aim here too, and both tablets seem to be more than capable of handling anything Android or you can throw at them. There will be two variants CPU-wise, depending on the market where you’re ordering from. One will feature an Exynos 5 Octa-Core CPUS, based on a Quad-Core 1.9 GHz Cortex A15 and a Quad-Core Cortex A7 CPU clocked at 1.3 GHz. The other variant will feature a 2.3 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon CPU. In addition, a 16 GB and a 32 GB internal version of both the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 will be made available, with both having microSD support up to 128 GB. Nothing to be surprised there, Samsung almost always offers microSD support. 3 GB of RAM and an 8 MP rear camera, along with a 2.1 MP front camera will make the device complete.
Keep in mind that Samsung offers generous bundles and bonuses with its flagship tablets, and this will be the case with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 too. Purchasing either will net you premium subscriptions for Dropbox, Evernote and Bitcasa. If you’re a comic fan, you’ll be glad to know you’re getting a Marvel Unlimited free subscription too. Overall, it seems Samsung is providing two high-end tablets with great specs. Unfortunately, nothing they offer seems to stand out as revolutionary or unique. Samsung hasn’t so far given any details whether or not the new tablets will come with the latest Android KitKat 4.4.3 version out of the box, however, this is unlikely. Expect KitKat 4.4.2 on both!
