Battlefield Hardline delayed until early 2015
Visceral Games has revealed that Battlefield Hardline has been delayed until 2015. In a post on the official Battlefield website the company explained that they have made the decision to push the release date of the game back as they want to further improve it. The post states that Visceral Games began considering additional gameplay ideas in after receiving feedback from beta players.
However, they would not be able to implement these concepts without a delay. “This feedback also spurred us to start thinking about other possibilities and ways we could push Hardline innovation further and make the game even better,” the announcement states. “The more we thought about these ideas, the more we knew we had to get them into the game you will all be playing.”
The extra development time will be spent polishing and expanding a number of areas according to Visceral Games. Much of the extra time will go towards improving the stability of Battlefield Hardline. The developer is hoping to eradicate any bugs and issues to ensure that the problems associated with the launch of Battlefield 4 are not repeated. The announcement also goes into detail about some of the more expansive changes to gameplay. The multiplayer portion of the title is set to receive a number of new features suggested by the community while the singleplayer campaign will be modified so that it has a far deeper plot.
Battlefield Hardline was originally due to launch in the fall of 2014. The game was announced at E3 during the EA press conference, with a beta following almost immediately after the announcement. Visceral has already made several changes to the game in response to player feedback. Each week they have been showing off modifications to gameplay. Updates so far have included changes to movement speed, the HUD, reducing the frequency of explosions and changing the duration of rounds.
