Destiny is now available for pre-order on Xbox One

Destiny is now available for pre-order and pre-download on the Xbox One console.

The release date for Bungie’s new game, Destiny, is September 9, 2014. However, players can already pre-order it from the Xbox Store. There are two bundles available. The first one, Xbox One Destiny Pre-Order Edition, is available for $59.99. It includes the standard game, plus access to the Vanguard Armory and Emblem pre-order bonus. A second bundle, called “Xbox One Destiny Digital Guardian Edition” costs $89.99. This option includes the previous bundle’s features plus an exclusive Ghost Shell, Player Ship and Player Emblem and the Destiny Expansion Pass. The latter is an online pass for two upcoming Destiny Expansions, featuring new story-lines, cooperative and competitive activities, new weapons, armor and gear.

The pre-order and pre-download process works as follows. When a title becomes available for pre-order, players can buy and download the game. They will be charged the full amount upon transaction. The game will then download, along with any updates issued before the release date. Once the game is officially released on Xbox Store, and depending on local release dates, players will be able to start the game immediately. In our case, Destiny will be playable starting September 9 at midnight for those who pre-order it.

Destiny is an upcoming First Person Shooter combined with Massive Multiplayer elements, developed by Bungie and published by Activision.  The game is intended as a 10 years long project, with expansion packs to be released on a regular basis. Destiny is not defined as a traditional MMO. Instead, the developer referred to it as a “shared world shooter”. Players will not be able to see and interact with each other in the game or on a server. Instead, Destiny will allow players to see and interact only with players with whom they are matched by the game.
