Vibe X2, Vibe Z2 Lenovo phones introduced to Chinese market
With the continuing expansion of Chinese mobile technology manufacturers, Lenovo decided to introduce its Vibe X2 and Vibe Z2 mid-range handsets to the Chinese market. Its new phones come as an attempt to introduce mid-range smartphones to its main market: China.
Even though the Vibe smartphones from Lenovo sport mid-range specs and target specific consumers, their price seems to be a bit higher than competitors’ like Xiaomi and Meizu, both phones having price-tags above $400. In any case, Lenovo’s Vibe X2 comes with a fun design, making the phone similar to a layered cake with three different colors blending into each other. The device comes with an octa-core MediaTek CPU clocked at 2 GHz and 1080p screen, 2 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage. Both handsets are dual-SIM enabled, which is a sought after feature in the Chinese smartphone market.
The Vibe X2 sports a 5 inch Full HD screen, 13 MP rear camera, 5 MP front camera and Lenovo’s own Vibe 2.0 UI. With its pretty good front camera, Lenovo aimed to raise interest in the Vibe X2 in the selfie-phone market, since it has become such a popular feature in smartphones these days. The device will launch with two phone-specific extensions, namely a JBL audio speaker, which has a kickstand to hold the phone up, and an extension battery that apparently gives an extra 75% of power. The main selling point of the Lenovo Vibe X2 is its multi-layered design, though and it actually looks quite appealing:
The Vibe Z2 is not to be mistaken for Lenovo’s high-end Vibe Z2 Pro device. The Pro edition of the Vibe Z2 runs on a MediaTek CPU, with a 5.5 inch screen. The Z2 edition comes with a 5.5 inch HD display powered Snapdragon 410 CPU with 64-bit cores and 2 GB RAM, joining the likes of the HTC Desire 820 in this respect. The cores Lenovo uses will surely come in handy when Android L 64 bit comes out on the Chinese market so it will probably act as one of its main selling point.
The phone will feature 32 GB of internal storage and will run on Android 4.4 KitKat. The Z2 will also rock a 13 MP rear camera and a whopping 8 MP selfie-camera, to cater to all the selfie enthusiasts.
Initially, both smartphones will be released in Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe, Lenovo remaining silent about whether the devices will make it to U.S. customers. In any case, the devices will have to compete with the likes of Xiaomi’s Mi4, Meizu’s MX4 and other devices from both ZTE and Huawei, all prominent actors in the Chinese mobile technology market.
