Microsoft announced holiday Xbox 360 bundles
Microsoft is trying hard to keep Xbox 360 alive. The company announced that they are preparing several bundles sold at low prices, a hard drive upgrade and a special edition console. They promote the last-gen console as a great value for the holiday season and they back up their statement through their offers.
Starting next week, users will be able to pre-order one of the special holiday Xbox 360 bundles. The first one is the 500GB Holiday Value Bundle. It contains Call of Duty: Ghosts and Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Additionally, buyers are given one month of Xbox Live Gold access and a 500 GB hard drive. This bundle costs $249. Those who choose to buy an Xbox 360 at Walmart in the USA, will be able to purchase the Xbox 360 Special Edition Blue Bundle. It contains the features of the previously mentioned pack and a blue console and controller, decked out with arctic blue accents. You will be able to purchase the bundle starting on October 7, only at Walmart in the US, for $249.
Another pack shown by Microsoft is the 4GB Xbox 360 Kinect Bundle, which contains Kinect Adventures, Kinect Sports and Forza Horizon. You also get one month of Xbox Live Gold access. This bundle can be bought for $249, from Target. Acording to Xbox officials, these bundles can also be purchased internationally, from local retailers. The exclusivity deals for the before-mentioned stores are only for the US market. Microsoft also reminds users that this year’s blockbusters are also going to be released on the Xbox 360.
All these bundles show us the Microsoft is not ready to bury their last-gen console. The Xbox 360 has been around since November 2005, when it came out as a replacement for Microsoft’s first gaming console, titled simply “Xbox”. It seems like the company still relies on the 360 to gain profits, which is not really surprising since the last-gen console is still popular.
