The Nvidia Shield Tablet: a gamer’s dream

Nvidia high end device developers seem to always be ahead of the game in which they are in fact playing alone. Their latest release, the Shield Tablet, proves this point. The Shield Tablet has been created with the intention of fulfilling every gaming fantasy out there. This portable gaming device operates on Android, being the successor of Nvidia’s Shield Portable. The Shield Tablet features a wireless controller, supporting up to four controllers connected simultaneosly. Its 8 inch 1920×1200 pixel display is capable of rendering 4K resolution on a high-end TV via HDMI.

The Shield Tablet is fueled by a highly powerful chip, the Tegra K1 made in house, joined by four high-power 2.2 GHz ARM Cortex 15 CPUs which ensure a mind-blowing gaming performance that has left competitors in the dust so far. The 16GB model features 2 GB of RAM, a responsive 2×2 MIMO Wi-Fi system with 802.11n  support (unfortunately not 802.11ac), and a “DirectSylus” software, courtesy of Nvidia. Its front-facing Dual Bass reflex stereo speakers will provide a clean and tenacious sound in game or while watching movies, or listening to music. The Shield Tablet also has outstanding recording capabilities which will allow the user to store his most memorable gaming moments with the Twitch service, while playing via Nvidia ShadowPlay.

In latest news, Nvidia has announced that the 32 GB version of the device, the Shield Tablet 32 GB LTE is now available for pre-order. We will be able to get an unlocked version of the device for $399, however, Nvidia states that AT&T offers a $299 retail price under contract. Reportedly, it has been tested out by some tech experts, and the main impression is that the device delivers premium gaming performance. Nvidia also made an important announcement regarding a list of optimized games for the Tegra K1. The list includes the following titles: Beach Buggy Racing, BombSquad, and Broadsword: Age of Chivalry. The official shipping date for the Nvidia Shield Tablet 32 GB LTE is set for September 30th.
