Galaxy Grand Prime to be launched in India
The Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime has surfaced not so long ago as Sasmung’s attempt at a selfie smartphone. The new selfie trend among OEMs and companies has become quite popular recently so the Galaxy Grand Prime was an expected move on Samsung’s part. There are other smartphones out there which are selfie-centered, such as the Oppo N1 and the upcoming Oppo N3, as well as the upcoming HTC One M8 Eye.
While last time the Galaxy Grand Prime was in a rumor stage, the handset has become official with an expected release in India later this week. The Galaxy Grand Prime will retail for roughly $250 which is a pretty average price tag for a mid-range selfie-phone. The Galaxy Grand Prime will have to compete against the Sony Xperia C3 in India, which is a better-specced smartphone with a price tag a tad bit higher.
The Galaxy Grand Prime sports a 5 inch QHD 540*960 display, 1.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon 400 backed by 1 GB RAM, 8 MP rear camera and 5 MP front selfie-camera. Android 4.4 KitKat will supposedly run the Galaxy Grand Prime, but we don’t know whether TouchWiz will be included in the package. 8 GB storage expandable by a microSD card will also be available and a 2600 mAH battery will provide the juice for the Galaxy Grand Prime.
The Galaxy Alpha has also been launched in India last week, so Samsung is pushing its smartphone line forward with quite the speed. We’re not sure if Samsung is headed in the right direction with all these new releases. People have begun saying that they can’t even understand the whole smartphone line from Samsung and they are becoming increasingly unsatisfied with the company’s mid-range line because most report laggy performance and below-average build quality. Nonetheless, Samsung will surely achieve success with the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge, because these latest releases from the company have received a lot of praised and are the first Samsung smartphones widely acclaimed for their design and build quality, besides the great screen and performance.
