The Evil Within gets Minimum System Requirements list
After revealing last week the recommended system requirements for The Evil Within, the fellas from Bethesda thought of sharing a specific minimum specs list for those who do not possess such a powerful rig. As those initial recommended specs took us aback, outlining CPU, VRAM and GPU requirements that would blow the roof off any gamer’s lair, this list of trimmed down Sys Reqs was expected to be a little bit more reasonable. Indeed, it is slightly more forgiving, but Bethesda and Tango Gameworks are still asking a lot from passionate fans of the survival horror genre to qualify for taking a front row seat in the nightmarish setting The Evil Within has is store.
Here is the Minimum System Requirements list:
- OS: Windows 7 (64 bit) / 8 (64 bit)
- CPU: Intel i7 Quad Core or similar (Intel Core i7-860S / AMD Phenom II X4 965)
- RAM: 4GB of System Memory
- VRAM: 1GB Graphics Memory
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 / AMD Radeon HD 6850
- HD: 50GB
As you can see, the GPU specs have dropped down quite a bit from last week’s outrageous requirements, but still you will need a minimum of 1GB in VRAM with Direct X 11 support just to get the game running. The GTX 460 and Radeon HD 6850 are not the most outdated cards to have as a minimum requirement, but it is very likely that you will have to turn off some features to get an acceptable graphics performance. In the CPU specs department we would have expected a notable change, but still older quad-core chip versions like Intel i7 and AMD Phenom II X4 695 are required to get an acceptable in-game experience.
Bethesda has always brought state of the art games such as Wolfenstein: The New Order with requirements to match this quality. The partnership with Tango Gameworks seems to have sparked an improvement in their craft, as The Evil Within already feels like a great game, and I’m sure it will not disappoint. Not long to go now and we’ll find out for sure.
