Project Zero aka Samsung Galaxy S6 specs leaked
We had just learned that the Galaxy S6 was awaiting a redesign by Samsung and the new model is supposed to be called Project Zero. While the announcement of a redesign for the 2015 flagship from Samsung might be a little late, we’re not sure if the company had been working on a new design for the Galaxy S6 for a longer time than we think. Even though there are still a fem months left until April, the supposed Galaxy S6 release date, Galaxy S6 specs have already been leaked online.
Let’s set aside the fact that Samsung has already saturated the flagship category with its Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 4 and even the Galaxy Alpha. Still, we are getting more and more excited about the upcoming Galaxy S6 each day. That’s because Samsung has been evolving with their design lately, which can be seen in the Galaxy Alpha’s and Galaxy Note 4’s metal frame. With the announcement that the Galaxy S6 design would be completely different, our levels of interest are peaking. Samsung also needs a game-changing flagship, because Samsung sales have been plummeting since the second and third quarters of the year.
Leaked specs of the Galaxy S6 include two different versions of the upcoming Samsung flagship, one with a Snapdragon 810 CPU and another with an Exynos 7420 octa core CPU. The Snapdragon 810, as well as the Exynos chip have 64 bit configuration CPU, so we should see Samsung cater the Galaxy S6 purposefully to the new Android 5.0 Lollipop mobile operating system from Google. The Galaxy S6 display size hasn’t been mentioned yet, but we do expect a big screen. The resolution for the Galaxy S6 display is said to be 1440*2560, so nothing very surprising there. We might see a 6 inch screen on the Galaxy S6, since it seems like phablets are becoming quite the trend nowadays. The Galaxy S6 camera setup should include either a 16 MP or a 21 MP Sony Exmor RS IMX240 sensor with optical image stabilization included. We think that the latter camera configuration would be more likely to surface on the Galaxy S6, because a 16 MP camera might lag around other flagships. The front camera is expected to be a pretty standard 5 MP shooter, similar to those found in the Galaxy A smartphones. As for storage, the Galaxy S6 should be available with 32, 64 or even 128 GB internal storage.
The Galaxy S6 should come with an improved LTE model which would not drain the battery as much as the Exynos modem currently found in various Galaxy devices. While we don’t know much about the Galaxy S6 battery or special features, we hope the device will come with a big juicer that will make for at least 2 days of mixed use on a single charge. We also think that Samsung should pay attention to this issue and follow user feedback on the new iPhone 6 Plus, because many are saying that they would have settled for a thicker form factor if they had a bigger battery available. Keep that in mind, Samsung. Thin phones have become pretty popular, though, with the release of the Oppo R5, currently the thinnest phone on the market. We will see what kind of approach Samsung will be taking with the Galaxy S6 flagship, but we sure hope it will be a game-changer in the end. The expected Galaxy S6 release date is rumored for March or April the latest and the price should be around $900 at launch.
