Hyperdevotion Noire Opening and Screenshots Revealed – NSFW

Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart, the strategy RPG spinoff to Idea Factory’s Hyperdimension Neptunia series, has revealed its opening video and a new batch of English screenshots.  The video has a few risque shots in it, so make sure of where you’re watching it.

Hyperdevotion Noire takes the world of Hyperdimension Neptunia and places it in the eyes of a new protagonist.  Instead of guiding Neptune, the Goddess of Planeptune through the parody-filled world of Gamindustri, players fill the shoes of Noire, the Goddess Black Heart of Lastation as she explores the similar, albeit different world of Gamarket.

Much like the Hyperdimension Neptunia games, in Hyperdevotion Noire the four CPU Goddesses are battling for supremacy over Gamarket, but just as Noire is about to claim victory, a mysterious force takes away the Goddesses’ powers.  Now, Noire must join forces with the other Goddesses and other denizens of Gamarket in order to save the world from the new, evil threat.

One of Hyperdimension Neptunia’s selling points is the fact that it pokes fun of the video game industry, and Hyperdevotion Noire is no different.  Many of the characters you’ll meet throughout the game are parodies of various gaming genres.  For example, one of the girls looks as though she just walked out of a Dragon Quest game, while another clearly takes cues from Solid Snake, cardboard box included.

However, the setting and characters aren’t the only things that have changed in Hyperdevotion Noire.  While the Hyperdimension Neptunia games are more typical turn-based RPGs, Hyperdevotion Noire is instead a strategy RPG, much like Final Fantasy Tactics or the Disgaea series… well, if the characters were chibi-ized and downright adorable.  You can take a nice look at some battle screenshots here:

Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart has already been released in Japan, but it will hit North America and Europe early next year, in both physical and digital forms for the PlayStation Vita.
