iPhone 6 vs Motorola Droid Turbo – Iteration vs Innovation

Today we’ll be looking at two smartphones that are very different from each other – the iPhone 6 and the Motorola Droid Turbo. While the former ended up becoming one of the most successful Apple products to date, the later fell quite a bit under the radar for some reason. Well, the reason might be that the device is exclusive to Verizon Wireless just like all the other droids, but still. The Motorola Droid Turbo features some of the best hardware out there and should not be overlooked by anyone looking to buy a new smartphone. As for the iPhone 6, we’re actually seeing quite a number of improvements over its predecessor, including a substantial bump to the screen size at long last. That being said, if you’re curious about purchasing any of these phones, we’ve rounded up some details about them that could potentially help you out with your decision.

iPhone 6

As I’m sure you’ve already noticed by now, most manufacturers are launching increasingly larger smartphones with each passing year. Apple was infamous for being against the idea for the longest time, but it seems that something finally changed this year at Cupertino. The iPhone 6 comes equipped with a 4.7-inch display @750 x 1334 resolution and 326 pixel resolution, quite a bit bigger than last year’s model. Granted, it’s still not as big as the screens offered by other new phones, but Apple has the iPhone 6 Plus for that. Anyway, while looking at under the hood improvements we come across the new A8 chipset with dual-core processor clocked at 1.4 GHz along with 1 GB of RAM, 8MP primary camera, and 1,810 mAh battery pack. The iPhone 6 comes in 16GB/64GB/128 GB storage options, runs on iOS 8 right out of the box, and offers various features such as Apple Pay and Touch ID, among many others.

Motorola Droid Turbo

On the other side of the spectrum, we have a device that not only improves on its predecessor, but also tries to set the bar higher for all Android phones when it comes to the specs. The Motorola Droid Turbo was built to be highly resistant and powerful in order to blow any would-be competitors away. The handset sports a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display complete with 1440 x 2560 resolution, 565 ppi, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. Hardware-wise, we’re looking at a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor running at 2.7 GHz, 3 GB of RAM, 21 MP primary camera, 32GB/64GB storage configurations, and a massive 3,900 mAh battery. The Motorola Droid Turbo currently runs on the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system, but will soon upgrade to Android Lollipop.

Bottom Line

The specs on the Motorola Droid Turbo are nothing short of impressive, but if you’re an iOS fan, then the iPhone 6 will definitely seem a bit more appealing. When it comes to the price these two devices are pretty evenly matched, with Apple’s offering starting at $650 while Motorola’s smartphone will set you back about $600. However, it’s worth mentioning that the iPhone 6 can get quite a bit more expensive if you’re looking for more storage memory. In any case, the Motorola Droid Turbo seems the logical choice based on hardware alone, although the problem here is that you can only buy it from Verizon Wireless and the stock is usually pretty limited. Meanwhile, the iPhone 6 is readily available at any time, so you won’t have any problems getting your hands on one if you want to. As mentioned, these are two very different handsets and it will ultimately boil down to personal preference. I would go for the Motorola Droid Turbo if I had to choose but the final decision, as always, is entirely up to you.
