Limited Edition Sony Xperia Z3 phones and tablet released, but you probably can’t buy them

Limited Edition Sony Xperia Z3 devices were announced by Sony Germany a couple of days ago, and let me say that the designs look absolutely fantastic. Regardless of the fact that we have no idea how you can a hold of one of the new devices, the fact that they are out there is a comforting thought. Much like HTC did with the HTC One M8 Limited Edition Phunk-design, Sony seems to be getting involved in creating new designs for smartphones.

The Limited Edition Sony Xperia Z3 devices include the classic Z3, the Z3 Compact and even the Z3 tablet. All three devices adorn three different designs that reflect urban life in the European cities of Berlin and Warsaw and even Tokyo. Three designers got together to devise the amazing designs on the Limited Edition Sony Xperia Z3 line, and if I do say so myself, the drawings came out awesome to say the least. The industrial engravings on the devices reflect the chaos and confusion of the modern urban community, as well as the beauties of each city they were inspired by.

Designers Vesa Tapani Sammalisto, Shinpei Hasegawa and Jan Feliks Kallwejt all put their minds and talents into the design of the Limited Edition Sony Xperia Z3 devices and their colorful drawings were transformed into engravings that look like something out of a story-book. The designs were created within the “StadtTalente” Project pioneered by Palina Rojinski. In the engraved designs on the Sony Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and Z3 Tablet, you can see miniature illustrations of famous city monuments, as well as tropes and popular culture reference specific to each city (Warsaw, Berlin and Tokyo). The headline of the project is “Not for everyone, but for all enthusiasts”, so we don’t know who can qualify as an enthusiast and get their hands on these Limited Edition Sony Xperia Z3 devices.

Supposedly, there are 33 units available of each device with the exquisite design engraved on its back, and they only seem to be available in Germany at the moment. Pricing and availability aren’t clear for the project, but we hope at least some of you will get a change to snag a Limited Edition Sony Xperia Z3 device in the future. Project StadtTalent, as well as HTC’s Here’s to Creativity project prove that smartphones aren’t just useful, they can be beautiful and elements of urban life, as well as memorabilia of one’s favorite city or hometown.
