New Nokia 215 feature phone announced by Microsoft at CES 2015

Microsoft just announced a new handset that’s seemingly aimed at people who are still nostalgic about the good old days when Nokia was leading the phone market. Sure, the infamous Finnish manufacturer is no longer able to build its own devices for a while, but that doesn’t mean we won’t see phones bearing its name in the near future. The device in question in not a smartphone, but a feature phone and it goes by the name of Nokia 215. As you might imagine, its specs are nothing to write home about, but that’s okay because they don’t have to be. Microsoft is offering this device for the dirt cheap price of $30, which kinda makes me want to buy it just so that I can own an old school Nokia phone again.

That said, the 215 does have a couple of features that bring it a little bit closer to modern day handsets. For example, you can browse the internet with the integrated Opera Mini browser and the Bing search engine. Chrome and Google would have been better in my opinion, but that’s just me. The Nokia 215 also allows its owner to access social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. As for the specs, you’ll be looking at a 2.4-inch screen with 240 x 320 pixel resolution backed by a 1,100 mAh battery and a microSD card slot that’s good for up to 32 GB of internal storage memory. The battery of the Nokia 215 can last for about 20 hours of constant chatting and almost a whole month in standy-by mode, which reminds us of a time when you didn’t have to reach for the charger every few hours.

Some other nice features include a flashlight(haven’t seen that in a while), a small 0.3 MP camera, and dual-SIM capabilities. The Nokia 215 is priced at only $30 and will become available for purchase in “select markets” from Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
