Just Cause 3 Gets New Screenshots, New Trailer

Avalanche Studios upcoming AAA title Just Cause 3 is promising to be a smash hit following their huge releases of Just Cause and Just Cause 2, both of which are open-world third person shooters. The gallery, which can be found here, shows off Square Enix’s new game engine, called Luminous (also referred to as “Luminous Studio”), that will not only make games look better, but also “reduce the cost of game development by up to thirty percent and will also allow development cycles to be shortened”.

According to Avalanche Studios’ official Twitter page, they are prepping a new trailer for Just Cause 3 which should show off some of the first gameplay. The tweet promises the trailer and the new gameplay to be released in early 2015. The Community Manager for Avalanche Studios, Petra Opelova, sent out another tweet confirming the Avalanche team is currently putting together a new trailer for Just Cause 3. According to Opelova, the trailer in mention looks “stellar”.

Just Cause 3 offers many new items and in-game systems that were not featured in Just Cause 2, such as a new wingsuit, but will still include the classic grapple hook and parachute, weapons and vehicles from the previous games. Gamers also are looking forward to an even bigger map, after the island of Panau in Just Cause 2 was 400 square miles, and an online mode. Just Cause 2 featured an online mod after Avalanche Studio gave the thumbs up for an official mod on Steam. While Just Cause 3 has not mentioned multiplayer, it has mentioned “online community features”, which might include leaderboard support and a social functionality, which has become a staple for AAA releases

Just Cause 3 will feature a similar story to the previous games, where protagonist Rico Rodriguez must infiltrate an island ran by a dictator. In Just Cause 3, the goal is to overthrow General Di Ravello, who runs the Mediterranean island republic of Medici, which is also Rico’s hometown.

Just Cause 3 will launch for Xbox One, PS4, and PC in late 2015.
