The Last Guardian Confirmed At E3

A few days ago, we wrote about how The Last Guardian could very well be exiting its prison cell in development hell this year at E3. Thankfully, it just so happens that we were right about that. The Last Guardian has been stuck in development for over 8 years now, and it was questionable whether or not it would ever end up seeing the light of day. The director of The Last Guardian last year remarked that development was going to be taking place under new conditions, and it’s clear to us now that that meant it was being polished up for PS4 (The Last Guardian was going to be on PS3 when it was first announced.))

Sony’s press conference this year kicked off with the debut of The Last Guardian’s gameplay, and it looks just as beautiful as we remember. Taking from the traditions set by Shadow of the Colossus and Ico before it, The Last Guardian creates an emotional setting without dialogue, placing you in a quiet, somber place of humbling scale. The Last Guardian will be focusing on the growing relationship between a small boy and a large creature, and is just about guaranteed to make me, you, and everybody else cry their eyes out.

Everyone’s excited to see The Last Guardian, especially those who got the chance to play the two other games by the studio. The Last Guardian will be coming at an undefined point in 2016 – but rest assured that it’s going to be coming in 2016. There’s no way the studio would delay The Last Guardian another day.
