The Order: 1886 news rumored to arrive next week

It’s been almost a year since The Order: 1886 was announced, but details about the game have been very scarce until now. This is about to change starting next week if rumors are to be believed. Notorious industry insider Shinobi leaked some info recently hinting that we’ll be hearing more about The Order: 1886 starting next Tuesday, May 27th.

This first tweet reveals that some sort of press event was held last week and apparently those who attended were pretty impressed by what they saw there. We haven’t heard anything about this event, which means that the press is not allowed to talk about it for the moment. Luckily, Shinobi says that we’ll learn all about it starting next week and he also talks about the reason behind all the secrecy.

Discussions revolving The Order: 1886 went on for some time, but the tweets above summarize the main idea. The press isn’t allowed to talk about the game yet because there is an embargo in place. The good news is that the embargo will be lifted on May 27th at 6 a.m. so naturally we expect that some details will be revealed then.

We already know that Ready at Dawn is developing the title and that it will be a PS4 exclusive. Although they’re not exactly well known, the company has been around since 2003 and is composed of former members of Naughty Dog and Blizzard Entertainment. Ready at Dawn worked mostly on games for the PlayStation Portable, but they were also behind the God of War: Origins Collection. This collection is a port of God of War: Chains of Olympus and God of War: Ghost of Sparta for the PS3. The two titles were initially developed for the PSP.

The Order: 1886 is expected to be released sometime during the fourth quarter of 2014, however the same Shinobi hints that it might have been delayed until next year. A user asked him about the game, to which he replied: “It’s not going to be on anyone’s 2014 GOTY lists.” The answer tells us that the game will either not be released this year or that it wont be so good as to make it on a Game of The Year list. Either way, an announcement will probably be made when the embargo lifts next week so I guess we’ll find out then if the game was delayed or not. Shinobi is well known for leaking good info ahead of time and is generally believed to have reliable sources. Still, these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt until we hear something from official sources.

The Order: 1886 takes place in an alternate history London and features a Victorian setting. The story revolves around an order of knights tasked with keeping the world safe from half breed monsters. We’ll let you know as soon as we learn something new so stay tuned for more updates.
