The Surface Pro 3 was announced earlier this week and the official specifications sheet was saying that the tablet will be available with the 4^th generation Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors. Microsoft’s engineers explained though, what are the specifications for the base and top models, separately.

The base model – i3

• i3 – 4020Y processor
• 1.5 GHz, Intel HD4200 graphics
• 4GB memory and 64 GB of storage
• Can drive 2 full HD displays (1920×1200 at 60 Hz)

The i5 model:

• i5 – 4300U processor
• 1.9 GHz and Turbo boost up to 2.9 GHz, HD4400 graphics
• First configuration: 4 GB memory  and 128 GB of storage
• Second configuration: 8 GB memory and 256 GB of storage
• Can drive 2 external displays at max 2880×1800 at 60Hz

The i7 model:

• I7-4650U processor
• 1.7 GHz, Turbo up to 3.3 GHz, HD5000 graphics
• Dual-core part, 8 GB of memory, 256/512 GB of storage
• Can drive 2 external displays at max 2880×1800 at 60Hz

All of the models have MicroSD slots for the storage expansion and can be connected to the monitors using a mini-Display Port adapter on the side of the device (HDMI, VGA, and DVI). The tablet runs Windows 8.1 Pro, it has a 5 MP, 1080p HD front and rear cameras, it weighs 1,76 pounds and the battery life was put at 9 hours. Regarding the prices, Microsoft announced that the Surface Pro 3 will start at $799 and it is already available for order, shipping in August:

• Core i3, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage – $799
• Core i5, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage – $999
• Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage – $1,299
• Core i7, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage – $1,549
• Core i7, 8GB RAM, 512GB storage – $1,949

The keyboard is not included in the price of the tablet, but can be ordered for $130.
