Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is getting Android 4.4.2 update with Download Booster

The news comes from a thread over XDA Developers, according to which the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is receiving a new Android 4.4.2 update. The new firmware’s size is around 185MB and carries the build number N9005XXUFNF4. The XDA Developers users point out that the update will bring Knox 2.0 and improved animations. The new Android 4.4.2 update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will roll out in phases so it might be some time until you receive it. As always, when you device becomes eligible to receive the OTA update, you should see a system updated notification. When you are ready to upgrade you phone, tap on it and follow the instructions.

As we mentioned before, the 4.4.2 N9005XXUFNF4 update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is quite large at 185MB so we recommend switching to a Wi-Fi network while downloading in order to avoid unwanted data charges. It’s important as well to have your phone charged to at least 50% before attempting the update. In order for the Note 3 to cope with all the power-hungry KitKat specific goodies, such as transparent status and navigation bars, white status icons, full screen album art camera shortcut in the lockscreen, immersive mode, new Location menu, color emoji support, or Caller ID for the Phone App, the new update arrives with improved battery life, Download Booster (it can combine Wi-Fi and LTE to improve download speeds) and Kids Mode.

If the OTA notification fails to appear or you want to try to pull the update manually, check under Settings>About device>Software updates> Check for updates. Alternatively, you can check for the N9005XXUFNF4 update via KIES by connecting your Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to your PC.
