Fallout 4 will not be present at Gamescom 2014 says Bethesda’s VP
There is definitely no shortage of rumors and speculations regarding Fallout 4, but recently there was news that gave fans some real hope. As you can see from this listing Bethesda has confirmed that it will be attending Gamescom 2014, which takes place in Cologne Germany between August 14th – 17th. This is not exactly a novelty by itself, but if you scroll towards the bottom of the page you may notice that the company has planned to present action-adventure and RPGs at the event. Needless to say, more than a few people were hoping that the RPG is question will be Fallout 4. Unfortunately Bethesda vice president Pete Hines confirmed on Twitter that they were actually talking about The Evil Within and The Elder Scrolls Online.

Sadly Fallout 4 is not part of the scheduled events for QuakeCon 2014 either so it seems more and more unlikely that we’ll get to see the game this year. An E3 reveal would have made the most sense, but that didn’t happen and we don’t think Bethesda will show one of the most anticipated games ever at any other event. The company has been quiet until now regarding the title and will most likely continue to be quiet for a while still. To be honest there’s no real evidence that Fallout 4 is even in development, but a guy can dream, can’t he?
Meanwhile, we do know that the company currently has other projects in the works, the survival horror The Evil Within being one of them. There was a lot of fuss about it at first but recently gaming websites who had a chance to get a hands-on preview with it are claiming that it’s not exactly impressive. The hype has more or less died down for now but Bethseda seems to think it can ignite it again at Gamescom. The company also has big plans with The Elder Scrolls Online which will receive its third major update early next month. ESO is a pretty good MMORPG, but it was overall a disappointment to many Elder Scrolls veterans. Lately Bethesda seems to be losing some of their fanbase and disappointing the rest. I’m not trying to be a pessimist here, but they really do need Fallout 4 or another big hitter to make a comeback.
The company did confirm that DOOM will be fully revealed at QuakeCon, which takes place between July 17th – 20th. That’s a very big name in the gaming industry but a lot of time has passed since the series truly meant something. I’m very curious to see if the game will appeal at all to the current generation of gamers. I guess we’ll find out soon enough. Stay tuned for more news and updates.
