Heroes of Might & Magic 7 announced, coming to PC in 2015

The next installment in the highly acclaimed Heroes of Might and Magic turn-based strategy series will arrive exclusively on PC next year. Ubisoft made the big announcement earlier at Gamescom while also releasing a trailer to show us what the upcoming game will be all about. Granted, it’s just a CGI trailer and not an in-game one but still, the video reveals a couple of interesting details about Heroes of Might & Magic 7 nevertheless. And it’s a good thing too because Ubisoft themselves shared very few details in regards to the game. However, they did reveal that Limbic Entertainment will be the game’s developer. That’s the same studio that worked on Might & Magic X Legacy, and they did a fine job I might add so Heroes of Might & Magic 7 is definitely in good hands.

Although they weren’t keen on sharing too many details, Ubisoft did say a thing or two about the game’s story. It seems that civil war is brewing in the Holy Empire and the throne has been left empty after the empress was murdered. Needless to say, everybody wants the throne and they will stop at nothing to seize it. Luckily, Duke Ivan has put together a council of six trusted advisers and they are all working together on finding a solution to the civil war. Sounds pretty interesting, if a bit generic, but it gets even better. Players will be able to vote on two of the factions that will end up being added to Heroes of Might & Magic 7.

“By joining the Shadow Council, available on the Heroes of Might & Magic 7 website, fans will be able to share their passion and enrich the game formula with their own contributions. Being part of the Shadow Council will allow fans to chat with developers, comment, share, interact and influence the content of the game, each step of the way granting them its own reward. As a remarkable start, fans will be able to vote for 2 of the 6 factions that will be available in the final game.”

Judging by the trailer and the few story details we know, the Haven faction will return in the next installment, although not necessarily under that name. The video also suggests that the Necropolis, Stronghold, and possibly Tower will be present as playable races in Heroes of Might & Magic 7 as well. As mentioned earlier, the other two factions will be chosen by the players who join the Shadow Council.
