Samsung Galaxy S Duos 3 to be launched soon

For the past two years, Samsung has been launching an S Duos smartphone each year, and in 2014 the Galaxy S Duos 3 will not be absent from stores. Rumors have confirmed that the Galaxy S Duos 3 is indeed in the works and sports mid-range specs and sadly, low-end features.

What we know about the Galaxy S Duos 3 is that it has been leaked on Indian websites saying that the device will soon be launched in their country. The device is supposedly in stock already at a certain, undisclosed Mumbai retailer, but that remains unconfirmed information. The device doesn’t really amaze, but that’s mostly because it’s a low-cost model with an estimated price of $130, which is quite ok for the specs it has to offer. The leaks have said that the Glaaxy S Duos 3 sports the usual dual-SIM capabilities, 4 inch display with 480*800 resolution, 5 MP rear camera with LED flash, VGA front camera, FM radio. 4 GB internal storage and microSD card.

The Galaxy S Duos 3 is powered by an unnamed 1 GHz dual-core CPU, aided by just 512MB of RAM, but still better than the Galaxy S Duos 2. The phone will run Android 4.4 Kitkat, which is nice. SDPA connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 1500 mAH battery are also worth mentioning. As you can see, it’s not an exceptional device, not by far, actually, but it does have an accessible price and might actually be a competitor for the upcoming Android One phones to be introduced in India by Google.

Since the Galaxy S Duos 3 doesn’t come with great specs, it might not reap success in other markets than emerging ones, but the device comes as an appropriate addition to Samsung’s budget portfolio and helps the company regain some of its customers in entry-level economies. We don’t know when the Galaxy S Duos 3 will arrive on international markets, but since it has already been put up for sale by Indian retailers, we don’t expect Samsung to lag around much.
