Google releases Android 5.0.2 Lollipop factory images for Nexus 7 and Nexus 10

Google is currently working hard to provide some of its devices with the latest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update. While a lot of Nexus 6 and Nexus 5 owners have been eagerly awaiting for some time now to see this version on their smartphones, the search giant isn’t focusing on those devices just yet. Instead, Google released factory images of the said build for a couple of its tablets earlier today. The tablets in question are the Nexus 10 and the 2013 version of the Nexus 7, both of which can now be upgraded to Android 5.02 Lollipop by following the instruction found on the Google Developers website. Interestingly, their most recently release tablet, the Nexus 9, has not received the latest build.

However, the Nexus 9 along with the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, and a few others have factory images for Android 5.0.1 Lollipop, which can also be found on the aforementioned website. As for 5.0.2, the update doesn’t actually bring a whole lot to the table so don’t worry if it’s not available for your device just yet. This version was actually first released back in December and was initially only available for the 2012 version of the Nexus 7. The reason for this is that the said tablet was the first device to experience the problems fixed by Android 5.02 Lollipop. These issues are manly related to the alarm and the storage. In addition, the latest build also includes a couple of other bug fixes, but nothing major.

Google didn’t say when it plans to push Android 5.0.2 Lollipop over the air for the Nexus 7 (2013) and Nexus 10 so this means that if you own one of these devices and must have the update now, you’ll have to update manually. As mentioned, all the necessary instructions can be found on the Google Developers website, but if you have little experience with updating manually you may want to wait until Android 5.0.2 Lollipop starts rolling out OTA.
