ZTE ZMAX mid-range cheap and powerful phablet

ZTE has just unveiled the ZMAX, a mid-range phablet that can compete with many new mid-range phones from Lenovo, HTC, Lumia, Alcatel and even Sony. The ZMAX promises to be a powerful and cheap device which will fit right into the mid-range category phablet-sized smartphone. With all the new releases from various OEMs this fall, ZTE felt that it cannot stay behind and came out with the ZTE ZMAX as q2uickly as possible.

The ZTE ZMAX phablet’s first big promise is a two day battery life, thanks to a 3400 mAH battery built into the device. Even though it’s a mid range phone, the ZTE ZMAX does leave a good impression thanks to its designs and specs as well. It comes as a rivel to the LG G Vista, which has the same screen and similar specs, but for a higher price than the ZTE ZMAX.

Among the other rivals the ZTE ZMAX is going against we find the HTC Desire 820, Desire 816, Xiaomi Redmi Note, Samsung Galaxy Mega, Lumia 1320, Sony Xperia C3 and LG Optimus G Pro Lite. That is no small competition the ZMAX will have to tackle, but for the $252 off-contract price, the ZMAX will surely fare as well as possible for a mid-range phablet.

The ZMAX has a 5.7 inch 720p display, quad core Snapdragon 400 CPU clocked at 1.2 GHz, backed by 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage expandable via microSD card. The ZMAX boasts an 8  MP rear camera and a 1.6 MP front camera for your selfie needs. At the same time, the ZMAX is LTE enabled, which will be a plus for the mid-range phablet. Dolby DM3 audio and Android 4.4.2 KitKat come along for the ride with the ZTE ZMAX.

Design-wise, there’s nothing special about the ZMAX, sporting the same old same old square shape, polycarbonate build, non-removable back and appropriate bezels. The ZMAX will go on sale on September 24 at T-Mobile. Even though the ZTE ZMAX isn’t much to look at, it does offer stock Android with the Nubia camera app installed, which will attract a lot of users who enjoy stock Android. ZTE was pretty successful with phones like the ZTE Blade Vec 4G and Kis 3 Max mid-rangers at IFA Berlin this month.
