Halo 2: Anniversary’s content ties into Halo 5: Guardians

Even though 343 Industries doesn’t want to alter Halo 2’s original storyline with the upcoming remaster compilation Halo: The Master Chief Collection, the developer has decided to add terminals akin to those found in Halo: Anniversary, which will apparently tie into the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians.

“If you remember the terminals from the first Halo: Anniversary where you could find and unlock motion comic-style pieces that filled in story for what was going to happen in Halo 4, we’re doing a lot of the same in Halo 2 that are going to start to hint at some things that are coming down the line in Halo 5”, said Dan Ayoub, 343 executive producer. “Our terminals in Halo 2: Anniversary are going to focus on The Arbiter. You’ll start to get an idea of his history and a little more about him”. Besides said terminals, Halo 2: Anniversary features 53 minutes of in-game cinematics, which have been done by Blur Studio. Moreover, there will also be brand-new cinematics that will tie into even the upcoming Halo: Nightfall, the live-action digital series.

“We’ve created bookend cinematics that are going to also start to tie into some of the things that are coming down the line in Halo 5, and characters that are going to be in Halo: Nightfall, the live-action digital series”, continued Ayoub. “While we’re going to stay very true to the main storyline to make sure it stays exactly the same. There are a number of opportunities on the fringe that allow us to start to hint at those larger stories that are coming”.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection includes Halo: Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4. Last month, 343 stated that it would love to also bring Halo ODST and Halo Reach to the Xbox One, though there are currently no plans for that. Regardless, The Master Chief Collection launches on November 11th in North America and November 14th in Europe, exclusively on the Xbox One.
