MGS V Ground Zeroes’ PC version to be unveiled tomorrow

Tomorrow – November 16th – NVIDIA will hold an event in Akihabara, where it will for the first time showcase the PC version of MGS V Ground Zeroes. The game is advertised as a TWIMTBP (The Way It’s Meant To Be Played) title, and while NVIDIA hasn’t revealed anything about it, one should expect such features as HBAO+. MGS V Ground Zeroes’ PC version launches on December 18th, and publisher Konami has promised to reveal its official PC requirements really soon.

MGS V Ground Zeroes is part of a sub-series of prequels in the Metal Gear series, taking place after Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Ground Zeroes stands alone as the first part of Metal Gear Solid V, acting as the prologue for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The game follows Big Boss as he infiltrates a fictional American black-site in Cuba called Camp Omega, attempting to rescue Cipher agent Paz Ortega Andrade and Sandinista child soldier Ricardo “Chico” Valenciano Libre.

MGS V Ground Zeroes offers players new methods of sneaking and traversal methods, as well as the choice in what order the story events take place by selecting missions in any order they like. The game was originally set to be released alongside The Phantom Pain, but an extended development time resulted in director Hideo Kojima splitting the project in two parts so that players will get an early access to Metal Gear Solid V. Critical reception to the game has been generally positive, with praise aimed towards its mechanics, voice-acting, story, and graphics, and with criticism aimed towards its short length.

Originally, a physical release was limited to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One would only be receiving a digital release, but on December 10th, 2013, it was announced that PlayStation 4 and Xbox One would also receive physical releases. On the 13th of August, 2014, Konami announced MGS V Ground Zeroes is coming to Steam, along with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
