Android 4.4. KitKat update coming to the Galaxy Note 2, 3, S3 and Mega
Samsung has begun rolling out the Android KitKat update to various devices which haven’t received the OTA yet. Since Samsung has a more than a handful of releases just for this year, the company seems like it is struggling on sending out the Android KitKat update to all their devices. The company is currently trying to keep its phones up to date by continuing the release of Android 4.4.2 and 4.4.4.
The Galaxy Note 3 has already received the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update at the beginning of the year and the company has left it at that. According to rumors, the Galaxy Note 3, as well as the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5 won’t be getting the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update. That doesn’t mean that Samsung will be abandoning the handsets like it with with the Galaxy S3, which didn’t have enough RAM to endure both TouchWiz and the Android KitKat update. It purely means that owners of the Note 3, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5 will be skipped when rolling out the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update and receive Android 5.0 Lollipop instead.
At the same time, AT&T announced that it would be sending out the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update to the Galaxy S4, including Know 2.0 and some new applications, as well as bug fixes and performance improvements. AT&T has also sent out Android 4.4.2 to the Galaxy S3, Note 2, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Mega. This rollout should also be completed by the end of the month. T-Mobile also said that it would be sending out an OTA KitKat update to the Galaxy Note 10.1 and should complete the rollout by the end of the month. Those of you with Telstra should also rejoice, since the company is also sending out Android 4.4.2 and 4.4.4 KitKat updates to the Galaxy S2 4G, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy Trend Plus, Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3. At the same time, the companies, alongside Vodafone, are sending out either OTA KitKat updates or more basic updates that should fix bugs users had had with previous iterations of an OTA. In any case, Samsung and co. are preparing for Android 5.0 Lollipop and we are eager to see the OTA on their phones as soon as possible.
