Metal Gear Solid 4 Coming to PlayStation Network

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was one of the most critically acclaimed games to appear on the PlayStation 3. Now, those that missed the chance to check the game out when it released will have another chance soon.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be available on the PlayStation Network for the PS3 on December 17th. The game will set back players €19.99 (US price TBA), and will take up 30GB of space on player’s hard drives. Metal Gear Solid 4 first released on the PlayStation 3 in June of 2008. The game was released to critical acclaim, and became one of the best rated games to have appeared on the PS3. The game won many game of the year awards, along with other various awards.

The last chronological game in the series, Metal Gear Solid 4 follows hero Solid Snake on his last mission. Set five years after the events of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 4 takes place in a world where the economy relies on continuous civil wars. The wars are fought with government military forces equipped with nano machines that help enhance their abilities. These soldiers are controlled through a network called Sons of the Patriots, which villain Liquid Ocelot is aiming to hijack. Solid Snake, who is experiencing rapid aging due to being a clone, is approached with one last mission that he accepts: to eliminate Liquid Ocelot. This mission sees Snake go across the world, as he fights to succeed just one last time.

The announcement that Metal Gear Solid 4 is coming to the PlayStation Network comes not long after it was revealed that Hideo Kojima (creator of the series) would be announcing the return of Metal Gear Online. Metal Gear Online originally released with Metal Gear Solid 4, and was shut down in 2012. Metal Gear Online will be included with the latest entry of the series, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
