Galaxy S6 leak shows off 5.5 inch display and metal unibody

A new Galaxy S6 leak is suggesting that the upcoming flagship from South Korean giant Samsung will be a 5.5 inch phablet with a full aluminium unibody, which should be nice and pricey. Project Zero, as the Galaxy S6 has been dubbed, will feature a complete redesign, as the company promised that it would focus more on user preference and launch a worthy phone at CES 2015. The recent Galaxy S6 leak corroborates a few of our previous suggestions about the handset and we are glad to see that Samsung is actually going with the metal design.

A series of leaked Galaxy S6 images surfaced yesterday showing off a metal unibody and a 5.5 inch display, but the whole thing has a fluorescent yellow color, which isn’t really appealing. That makes us believe that the Galaxy S6 leak is of a prototype or mock-up device that is set to be the model for Project Zero. Samsung did announce that they would be changing things with the new release, but it’s unlikely they were talking about a new color scheme for the handset.

The model number for the Galaxy S6 is revealed as SM-G430, but the specs that have been leaked alongside the photos tell a different story than we had imagined so far. The leak lists a Snapdragon 801 CPU and an 1080p display, which are pretty far off from the QHD display and Snapdragon 810 CPU we had thought the device would sport. Putting a Snapdragon 801 CPU would make the Galaxy S6 pretty average, as most flagships of 2014 employed the same chipset. We were hoping that the Galaxy S6 leak would show off the Snapdragon 810 chipset, but it seems that might not be the case. Alas, these are just rumors and consequently, we should take them with a grain of salt, to say the least.

The Galaxy S6 leak also mentioned the Galaxy S6 Edge, which would be the premium version of the flagship that would sport a 5.3 inch QHD display, Snapdragon 810 CPU and 4 GB RAM and could even feature an iris scanner, which would be really high-tech. With these two Galaxy S6 variants, we could speculate that we could be seeing two new launches at CES 2015, but we deem it unlikely since the 4 GB DRAM module would not be ready for mass production until then. In any case, the latest Galaxy S6 leak is pretty disappointing, so we’re not going to put our trust into it just yet, at least not until CES 2015.
