Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 to be unveiled on January 15

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 now replaces our supposition that the Xiaomi Mi5 would be the flagship of the year from the Chinese company. While we did mention the Xiaomi MI5 would be a bit unlikely to show so early, since 6 months didn’t even pass since the Mi4 was launched, it seems rumors are getting more intense about the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 being the big launch from the company on January 15th.

Even though the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is unlikely to show up in US stores, it is still an interesting and cheap phone to keep your eyes out for. According to a TENAA certification as well as a handful of rumors, specs of the phablet will be notable. Namely, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 will sport a 5.5 inch display with a 1080*1920 resolution and will no doubt be powered by the 64 bit Snapdragon CPU causing so much hype on the internets lately. The handset could also sport a MediaTek MT6752 CPU, but we are hoping for the former, honestly, since MediaTek CPUs aren’t supposed to be as reliable as those made by Qualcomm. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 will also sport a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera. Android 4.4 KitKat with MIUI 6 should also be on board the handset.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 will be powered by a 3100 mAH battery, which in my opinion could have been made a bit bigger for a better battery life in the long run. Alas, these specs are purely rumors at the moment, so things could change. You should take them with at least a grain of salt until January 15, the supposed release date of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2. What’s more, the price of the handset will supposedly be set at $160 tops, which means that when it comes to bang for buck, the Chinese phone will definitely take the throne, at least in January 2015. If the phablet would be available in the US, would you consider getting your hands on it or do you have trust-issues still?
