MineCon 2015 Details Announced

Good news for Minecraft fans; Mojang has announced that MineCon, the annual Minecraft convention, will return in 2015. The popular convention used to be held every year, but Mojang skipped last year. Even though Microsoft currently owns the rights to Minecraft, it’s expected that Mojang will still take part. The studio who created Minecraft says that MineCon is the place to “meet people who love Minecraft as much as you do, and attend panels and events full of YouTube creators and a ton of other talented folks.”

MineCon 2015 will take place in London, United Kingdom this year. The convention is set to take place from July 4-5, 2015 and will be held in the ExCeL London Exhibition and Conference Centre. There will be 10,000 tickets available for sale, and the ticket sales will happen in February, exact date and time will be announced in the next two weeks. In order to get tickets, head to minecon.mojang.com to purchase them, but they sell ridiculously fast.

For MineCon 2013, people complained of how quickly the tickets sold out, since both batch 1 and batch 2 of tickets sold out in under 3 seconds. People then were able to sell their tickets on eBay for upwards of $1,000 USD.

Mojang believes that in order to accommodate different people’s schedules, they will release the tickets in two batches on the same day, different times, 5,000 tickets in each batch. When you buy your ticket you’ll also get access to our discounted hotel pricing near the area.

Minecraft was purchased by Microsoft back last year for a whopping $2.5 billion dollars, making it the most expensive indie game purchase in history. Minecraft was released worldwide back in 2009 for PCs, but has since expanded onto the Xbox platforms, which include the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One, and the Playstation platforms, including the PS3 and PS4. They also developed a mobile version for iOS and Android devices.
