LG G4 release date postponed to April
Many were confident until now that the upcoming LG G4, the successor of the acclaimed LG G3 would make an appearance at the Mobile World Congress in March 2015, in Barcelona, Spain. The latest rumors, however, say that the South Korean company might be postponing the LG G4 release date to April in order to avoid competition with Samsung. Samsung is set to launch the Galaxy S6 and its edge-variant, the Galaxy S6 Edge at the MWC 2015.
It makes sense, if you think about it, that LG would choose to postpone the LG G4 release date in order to make the handset truly innovative, according to the Korean Times website. The LG G3 was and still is a hit with smartphone enthusiasts, because it offers the best screen on the market (besides the Galaxy Note 4), great specs, great design, a good UI and a decent price that doesn’t leave too huge a hole in your pocket. With such hype generated by the LG G3, it would make perfect sense for LG to delay the LG G4 release date to April. This way, the company would be able to implement more software tweaks as Android 5.1 Lollipop will surely be out by April for flagship devices.
The LG G4 has many smartphone enthusiasts hoping for a flagship smartphone that would fit right in between the HTC One M9 and the Galaxy S6, with a great screen, good specs and a decent price that can be afforded. There have been surprisingly few leaks about the LG G4, which suggests that the handset is not finished yet and LG can’t launch it at the MWC 2015. Either way, it seems like a good course of action to launch the new phone in Q2 2015. Specs for the LG G4 haven’t been confirmed, but we can speculate a bit on them based on the LG G3 and current technologies being implemented in smartphones.
With that in mind, the LG G4 will either tout a QHD display like on the LG G3 with a slightly larger screen, or it will have a staggering 3K display. We would vote for the former, as a 3K resolution display would drain the battery like crazy. Unless LG has made improvements in the battery technology field, as promised. Even though the company is working on thin, flexible batteries, our hunch is that they aren’t going to be implemented in the LG G4, or the LG G5 for that matter. We might have to wait until the LG G6 to see a week-long flexible battery in a smartphone. The LG G4 should benefit from the Snapdragon 810 64 bit CPU as well as a stylus, according to most recent rumors.
