Capcom Releases First Dragon’s Dogma Online Gameplay Footage

Capcom has released a first look at the gameplay in their upcoming game Dragon’s Dogma Online, as reported by Gematsu. The seven minute long video was released at the Dengeki Bunko Spring Festival in Akihabara, Japan. In addition to giving a nice inside look at the world, the event also revealed some more details. Up to 100 players can join a lobby in Dragon’s Dogma Online and it’s possible to match between servers as well as warp to the server of a friend. Quests change every day and are of varying difficulties- some are relatively simple and can be achieved by a single player alone. Sometimes players will received “Main Quests” which advances the story.

Players will be able to jump while they’re in the lobby. Communication is a mixture of gestures and set phrases, some of which are voiced. In terms of the rest of the world, the map will be three times as big as the previous game in the series and the fields can include forests, lakes, mines, and other areas. In the video, the party is comprised of a Fighter, a Shield Soldier, a Priest, and a Hunter. This is probably not all the classes in Dragon’s Dogma Online, however, as the previous game also had jobs such as Mage, Sorcerer, and Assassin. Orcs will be an important enemy, fought many times through the story with many different variations. Their lowest ranks are shown in the video where the party must raid their stronghold as part of the story.

Dragon’s Dogma Online is Capcom’s follow-up to Dragon’s Dogma which released for the previous generation in 2012. In the sequel, players are tasked with solving the mystery behind why the White Dragon has been turned into stone. Dragon’s Dogma Online will be released free-to-play in Japan later this year for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC systems.
