NES Classic Edition Accessories

The NES is arguably the most important console ever created, at least from a history perspective. It wasn’t the first created, that would be the Brown Box, nor was it the first to be wildly popular, that being the Atari 2600. It was, however, the console that revived North American video gaming after the crash of 1983. Gaming wasn’t exactly dead after the crash, but the NES brought it back to its former glory.  On top of that, it kickstarted the 8-bit era, and everything that came after that. Nintendo recently announced that it was bringing this classic console back to us in the form of the NES Classic Edition. What is more, it has been announced that optional accessories for the system are being released by My Arcade.

The NES was well known for its library of games, but it also had a fair bit of optional peripherals. Four peripherals have been announced for the NES Classic Edition. Not as many as the original NES, but still quite a few. The Gamepad Classic, Gamepad Pro, the Gamepad Retro and an extender cable. The Retro is a classic NES controller, the Pro a SNES style controller, and the Classic a wireless controller. There is also a combo kit that bundles the Classic and the extender cable. All of these controllers can also be used on the Wii and Wii U for some virtual console games. The ones that supported classic controllers.

My Arcade, the company that created these items, specialize in retro accessories and gaming. Their head of marketing has claimed “We have an immense passion for classic gaming and want to provide the public with unique and innovative products that will enhance their retro gameplay experience.” Their goal is to bring the classic NES controllers into the modern age via the NES Classic Edition. Which is the reasoning behind the wireless functions for the Gamepad Classic. The NES Classic Edition will be released on November 11, 2016. These controllers are currently available for pre-order on Amazon.
