Mean Streets of Gadgetzan Announced
Hearthstone is a game that has taken the world by storm. In many ways, it repopularized collectable card games in the world of video games. Countless other games have been trying to ride off Blizzard’s success. Hearthstone is still going strong, with three major and four minor expansions under its belt. Determined to keep the ball rolling, Blizzard has announced another massive expansion. Mean Streets of Gadgetzan, an expansion with a comedic mob war theme. As always, fifty packs can be pre-purchased for $49.99, along with a unique card back.
Like the previous massive Hearthstone expansions, there are a lot of cards being introduced in Mean Streets of Gadgetzan. 132 to be exact, making it around the same as the previous ones. As of now, a couple dozen of them have been revealed, with a few interesting new concepts being implemented. “Create a custom spell,” is a new ability that some cards will now have. When utilized, it permits players to choose the strength and effect of a spell that will then be added to their hand. Effects that created other cards have been used before in Hearthstone, but not to this degree. A dozen or two different combinations seem to be possible.
Another new concept in Mean Streets of Gadgetzan is multi-class cards. In Hearthstone, cards were either unique to one class or could be used by all of them. Multi-class cards are taking the middle road, with each one being usable by three of the nine classes. This is to reflect the mob divisions in Mean Streets of Gadgetzan between three families. Grimy Goons cards are for Hunter, Paladin, and Warrior, the Kabal cards are for Mage, Priest, and Warlock, and Jade Lotus are for Druid, Rogue, and Shaman. Although it will no doubt be confusing to easily tell which card falls under which. Aside from that, it is a very interesting concept.
