Batman Arkham Knight release date officially announced

Previously delayed until Fall 2014, the highly anticipated Batman Arkham Knight seems to have suffered yet another delay. Today developer Rocksteady Games officially announced the release date for the game as being June 2nd, 2015. Needless to say, this is a pretty huge delay and a big disappointment to fans of the Caped Crusader. Games from the Batman Arkham series are one of the few examples of good comic book adaptations into the realm of gaming and Batman Arkham Knight is said to be the best title yet. Sadly, Rocksteady didn’t reveal anything else about the game so we don’t know the exact cause for this massive delay. But interestingly enough, this release date contradicts a previous statement made by the voice actor of Batman himself in the upcoming Batman Arkham Knight.

“I have a massive game you may have heard of called Arkham Knight,” said the voice of Batman, Kevin Conroy earlier this year. “It was supposed to come out in January, we’ve been working on it for a year and a half, it’s still not done. So it’s going to come out next January, but I know everyone is frustrated.” He also added that “The reason it’s been delayed is because it’s so awesome.” Around the same time that Conroy made that statement Microsoft was listing February 24th as the release date for the Xbox One version of Batman Arkham Knight. I think we would have all loved to see the game in January or February rather than June, oh well.

Batman Arkham Knight is not the first highly anticipated game to be delayed until 2015, not even close. Some other examples include The Order: 1886, Evolve, The Division, Battlefield Hardline and more. Other more fortunate titles like Dragon Age Inquisition and Assassin’s Creed Unity only suffered minor delays and will still release this year. Can we even trust official release date announcements anymore? We’ll just have to wait and see. Batman Arkham Knight will be available for the PS4, Xbox One and the PC.
