Persona 5 Delayed Until April
Delays are an odd thing that have the ability to inspire very mixed emotions. On the one hand, a delay can be very good for a game in the long wrong. Shigeru Miyamoto famously said, “A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.” There is some truth to this, as several classic games were heavily delayed, such as Half Life 2. On the other hand, constant delays can be an indicator of troubled productions. Duke Nukem Forever and Mighty No. 9 are particularly infamous examples of this. Whatever the case, Persona 5 has been delayed from a February release to an April release.
Persona 5 is hardly a stranger to delays. Originally, it was supposed to see a 2014 release, but not long after it was delayed to a 2015 release. It failed to meet that date as well, causing it to be delayed yet again. With this delay, the game has been delayed a grand total of three times, with nearly three years being added on to the total wait time. Needless to say, fans have been incredibly patient waiting for this game.
The thing that makes this delay odd is that, technically, the game is finished. Persona 5 has been out in Japan for around two months now. What is more, it seems to be experiencing very warm reception there, implying that it was very well put together. Or, at the very least, is not suffering from any serious design flaws or lacking any major components. This suggests that the delay is mainly concerning the localization. Whether its proving to be more complicated than anticipated or something else, has yet to be seen. As of now, all we know is that Persona 5 has been delayed so that the developers can ensure its quality. Although, as an added bonus for the wait, dual audio will be included for free.
