WildStar Open Beta starts May 8th
NCSOFT has announced earlier that the Open Beta for the highly anticipated MMORPG Wildstar will start next week. The upcoming game is being developed by Carbine Studios, a company founded in 2005 by former members of Blizzard Entertainment. The beta will take place from May 8th until May 18th, and will allow players to advance their characters up to level 30.
If you have already participated in one of the Closed Beta weekends, you just need to patch the game and jump right in when the event starts. New players will have to visit the Wildstar Open Beta page and request a key if they want to have access. In order to celebrate the beta launch, Carbine Studios will host a 30 minute livestream on Twitch TV starting at 11 p.m. EDT on the 8th of May.
Following that, there will be a six-hour livestream scheduled on Friday, May 9th. The developers will talk about the challenges of getting the game ready for launch, show off some of WildStar’s raids and Warplots, and provide and look at higher level content.
Once you have reached level 30 a new area called Farside will be available for you to explore. Farside is the moon of planet Nexus and will feature low-gravity atmosphere. Players will also be able to participate in a tower-defense mode called Galeras Adventure. Furthermore, WildStar adds two brand new abilities, a new ability slot and Tier Points that can be used to power up your abilities.
The upcoming MMORPG uses a subscription based model which requires you to pay $15 a month in order to keep playing. WildStar also uses something called C.R.E.D.D, which is an in-game item that can be bought from other players and allows you to earn more game time. WildStar is scheduled for release on June 3 for PC and can be Pre-Ordered for $60 Standard Edition or $75 Digital Deluxe Edition.
