Huge day one patches for Wolfenstein: The New Order
Wolfenstein: The New Order is a few days away, but some copies of the game have made it out into the wild and into the consoles of gamers. Although we can’t yet comment on the quality of the game, we can report on the fact that the game has huge day one patches already online for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Gamers who picked up the PlayStation 4 version of the game have reported on a download that weighs 5GB, almost as big as a full Xbox 360 game. On the Xbox One it’s even worse, the game requiring a 7.3 GB download for that same patch. What’s included in these fixes is not yet known, but the game must have some serious issues or lots of content missing if it need such patches on the first day.
So far patch notes have not been released, so we may never find out what exactly are these updates fixing, and we know nothing about the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 versions of the game. We don’t know if the issues are spread across all platforms, or if the download size is the same. Some gameplay footage of the PlayStation 3 version of Wolfenstein: The New Order did manage to leak online, and it seems that graphically it’s significantly less impressive than what was featured in the trailers. This is not surprising, considering the game is heavily marketed towards the newer generation platforms.
The game is being developed by Machine Games, a new studio founded by Bethesda just to make this game, so the team may not have had everything up to scratch before shipping. That said, we have little to no details about the PC version, which should be the most technically impressive of the bunch.
The game releases on May 20th for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Are you excited for the new Wolfenstein?
