Archlord 2 Closed Beta begins this Tuesday

Archlord 2 is an upcoming free-to-play fantasy MMORPG developed by Webzen Games, the company behind titles such as Metin, MU Online, and Age of Wulin, better known in the west as Age of Wushu. Webzen is back with another FTP title, which aims at bringing players back to the world of Chantra. Much like its prequel, Archlord 2 will be a traditional MMO that focuses more on the PVP aspect of the game. The Closed Beta Testing phase will kick off this Tuesday, June 17th and you can sign up for it here. There will be a total of 5 realms to choose from so make sure you pick the one that’s closest to your location.

One of the features that stood out in the original title was the fact that you could become the Archlord of the game world. This basically means that you were the ruler and received a castle, dragon mount, and all sorts of powers. Only one Archlord could exist on each server and you could only become one by defeating the previous ruler. This unique feature is what made the game special and will be making a comeback in Archlord 2. The follow-up will once again take place in the world of Chantra, sort of. The description tells us that you’ll be playing in an alternate version of it this time around.

“The world of Archlord 2 can be considered as a parallel universe to that of Archlord, showing an alternate history of the world of Chantra. The world of Chantra was created by a race of powerful god-like beings with the help of an ancient crystal artifact bundling the energy that permeates the universe. They created the world of Chantra and gave form to the stars, the lands, seas and mountains. After their labor, the gods needed to rest and went to their eternal palace to slumber. However, they created a powerful being – the Archlord – to safeguard and guide the destiny of their new creation.”

Archlord 2 promises vibrant graphics, a “mesmerizing soundtrack”, and large scale battles that can support  up to 400 players at once. The game already underwent early beta testing in Korea so the European and North American versions will come with some updates based on player feedback. This should allow for a great gaming experience to MMO fans, but since this is a beta bugs are to be expected nevertheless. Stay tuned for more news and updates.
