Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 at IFA 2014
Samsung has announced the unveiling of the Galaxy Note 4 at IFA Berlin this September, but it seems the Note 4 will not be the only phablet to be unveiled at the event. Rumors of a Galaxy Mega 2 have emerged, through the announcement of the firmware for SM-G750 from SamMobile.
We don’t know for sure whether the official unveiling of the Galaxy Mega 2 will happen at IFA Berlin, but if it does, it might be left lurking in the Note 4’s shadow for a while. Nonetheless, the Mega 2 is certainly an upcoming device, what remains to be seen is how fast it will appear on the market.
Rumors suggest that the Mega 2 will feature a 5.9 inch 720p screen, Snapdragon 400 or 410 processor, 2 GB RAM, 12 or 13 MP rear camera and 4.7 MP secondary camera, 8 GB internal storage and microSD card slot. Its dimension will supposedly be around 163.6 x 84.9 x 8.6mm. The device doesn’t seem to be a very innovative one, but it is an updated version of the Galaxy Mega and will surely be in a lower price range as an alternative to the awaited Note 4.
The Mega 2 will run on Android 4.4.4 and since it won’t be the best among smartphones on the market, it can certainly boast with its huge display, for those of you into phablets. If you don’t need such a huge screen and prefer a bit more maneuverability, you should rather fix up for the Galaxy S5. If you’re keen on big screens though, and have a budget, the Note 4 definitely overcomes the Mega 2.
The Note 4 will come as a powerful device to be announced at IFA Berlin along with the Mega 2, and many call it the juggernaut of smartphones. 5.7 inch 560×1440 display (515 PPI), 4GB of RAM, 2.5GHZ Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor (or octa-core Exynos with four Cortext-A57 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores depending on region), and a 16-megapixel camera with the ability to record 4K video are the specs that have leaked online and have made us excited about the Note 4. Its features have not yet been completely outed, so we suppose we’re in for a treat at IFA Berlin.
Samsung wants to be the big star of IFA Berlin as I see it, with the launch of several new devices, and the Mega 2 only adding to our curiosity, especially since the phone looks quite nice from the leaked images we’ve found online. We can’t wait for September 5!
