Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham exclusive PlayStation DLC announced
Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham game director Arthur Parsons revealed that those who buy the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 version of the game in Europe will also receive an exclusive DLC character pack. The pack will bring players eight new characters from the “Batman of the Future” animated series. According to Parsons, the respective characters will be available in the freeplay mode of the game.
“Batman of the Future” is a series set in 2039, and it features a retired Bruce Wayne leaving the Batman mantle to a teenager, Terry McGinnis. The show is known for its darker tone compared to the other DC animated shows. It ran for three seasons from 1999 to 2001, but it was canceled to make space for the “Justice League” animated series. The characters you will be able to play as in Lego Batman 3 include Terry McGinnis as Batman, wearing a technologically advanced Bat suit that allows him to fly, fire Batarangs and turn invisible. You will also be able to play as the show’s version of Bruce Wayne and his Bat-Hound, “Ace”. While the dog might seem like a useless character, take note that you can make use of its sense of smell to sniff out hidden LEGO.
The character pack will also contain villains from the Batman of the Future series. Parsons confirmed that names like “Bonk”, a LEGO Big Figure, “Blight”, whose radioactive nature allows him to light up darkened areas, and Inque, the shape-shifter will be playable in Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. Besides these, players will also get a couple of classic Batman villains, as they were depicted in the “Batman of the Future” series. One of these is Mr. Freeze, who has the ability to freeze water and enemies and to transform himself in something that Parsons prefered not to reveal at the time. Last but not least, gamers will be able to play as the future version of Joker, who is equipped with a laser gun, joker grenades, an electric joy buzzer and many other features.
Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is developed by Traveller’s Tales and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. It will be released on November 11 in North America and November 14 in Europe for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PS Vita, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One, iOS and OS X.
