Guardians of the Galaxy Blu-Ray Includes 8-bit Adventure
Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn shared a sneak peek of the bonus features that Guardians’ fans will get with the Guardians of the Galaxy Blu-Ray on December 9th. Gunn’s video included the NES style animated clips that will be sure to win the approval of Marvel fans worldwide. In keeping with the theme of grin-inducing retro nods that were scattered throughout the movie, the Guardians of the Galaxy Blu-Ray keeps it rolling by showing an 8bit Star-Lord (played by Chris Pratt in the film) as he asks “Who?” when an NES style James Gunn introduces himself as the “Galactic Adventurer.”
The fictional 8bit game has been dubbed Galactic Adventurer and features characters from Guardians of the Galaxy and notable faces from Marvel Studios in a variety of environments that’ll make you want to break out your NES and play some Double Dragon. Galactic Adventurer was not originally included in the list of goodies to be included with the already enticing Guardians of the Galaxy Blu-Ray.
Sadly, this means that there’s a good chance that Galactic Adventurer will not be a playable game but is instead the theme that ties the bonus feature content together. While the Blu-Ray’s acknowledgement to vintage gaming is pretty entertaining, the rest of the bonus features look solid as well with extras that include an in-depth look at how Rocket was brought to life and a sneak peek at the Avengers: Age of Ultron.
While repeat viewings of Guardians of the Galaxy will make the wait for the next installment a bit easier, here’s hoping that Marvel Studios won’t keep fans of one of the highest grossing films of the year day dreaming of a playable version of Galactic Adventurer for too long. We do hope Galactic Adventurer ends up being a playable game, but we will just have to wait and see.
