The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt ‘Downgrade’ Explained

The Witcher 3 has been one of the game causing quite a stir this weekend. With a new trailer now out and about, The Witcher 3 has also been delayed. Its latest trailer has caused quite an uproar, as fans are complain over what appears to be a downgrade in the game. Many PC Gamers are disappointed at what appears to be lower resolution on textures, characters, and terrain. While many are blaming consoles for holding the game back, the developer’s have shot back at these accusations and stated that the game has not been downgraded, but that The Witcher 3’s latest trailer is a victim of YouTube compression. We will have to see if the developer is just blowing off steam or if The Witcher 3 really is a victim here.

“I believe some explanation is required here. Unfortunately this time we’ve encountered some horrible YouTube compression problems. At this very moment we are working on fixing this and will upload another version of the trailer as soon as we can. It will present much higher quality. I want to assure you that there will be no downgrade – I see this game every day – it looks stunning.”

This comment comes from developer Marcin Momot, over at The Witcher 3’s official forums. Some still seem to think that The Witcher 3’s downgrade is due to consoles after this statement. While I am hoping for the best, there is no denying the issues in the newest trailer, which is rated Mature:

The Witcher 3 is now slated for May 19th, 2015. Hopefully the delay of The Witcher 3 is just. We will have to see how CD Projekt will show the real trailer of The Witcher 3, but right now we are stuck. CD Projekt needs to find a way to prove that The Witcher 3’s downgrade was due to a YouTube compression issue. It will be interesting to see what they have in store, but right now it looks as if The Witcher 3 has been somewhat downgraded.
