Android 5.0 update might skip the Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge

The Android 5.0 update might skip the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge altogether, but owners of these phablets and innovative devices shouldn’t fret because their gadgets will probably receive Android 5.0.1 Lollipop directly. That means that instead of getting the Android 5.0 update first, the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge will wait a little longer and receive the even newer version of Google’s mobile operating system, version number 5.0.1.

Even though the Android 5.0 update has already started its rollout over at Samsung, phones like the Galaxy S5 already getting the OTA, other devices including the Galaxy Note Edge and Note 4 might have to wait a little longer. Rumor has it that the Android 5.0 update will hit the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3 next. The Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge were next in line to receive the Lollipop treatment, but new rumors say that Samsung might skip these devices.

SamMobile is the originator of the latest rumors involving the Android 5.0 update being skipped, and we’re are fairly confident that it’s not erroneous. According to SamMobile, Samsung is already working on the TouchWiz builds for the Galaxy Note 5 and Note Edge Android 5.0.1 update, so that’s why we think that the Android 5.0 update would be skipped altogether. Even though some of you might think that if the Android 5.0 update skips the Note 4 and Note Edge, the wait is going to be extended, but rumors say that the waiting time will stay the same and the Android 5.0.1 update will roll out directly instead of the Android 5.0 update for the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge. Still, we don’t have an exact release date for the update, but the handsets should be getting the OTA sometime in February 2015.

Naturally, Samsung is working on implementing the TouchWiz skin in the Android 5.0 update and subsequently, the Android 5.0.1 update, too. While many of you are not fans of TouchWiz, we hope Samsung does well with its latest iteration of the UI and keeps the Material Design elements everybody loves about Android 5.0 Lollipop. Even though the Android 5.0 update seems to be delayed, we must remember that this rollout is slow and performed in stages, so we just need to be patient for that update notification.
