Disney World is finally accepting Apple Pay and Google Wallet

As promised earlier this year, the Walt Disney World Resort will give visitors the option of making mobile payments with the use of Google Wallet and Apple Pay, as well as with contactless credit cards. The exact date for when the service will become available is December 24th, so just in time for Christmas. If you plan on making a trip to the resort during the holidays, know that you can use Apple Pay and Google Wallet for a variety of things while you’re over there. These include purchasing tickets, shopping at most stores, and ordering at quick service bars and restaurants.

However, not all locations will be available from the get-go, so visitors are advised to keep an eye out for the EMVCo symbol, which should be found near the places where this payment method works. While you can use Apple Pay, Google Wallet, and contactless credit cards to pay for a number of activities, you will still have to pull your real wallet or regular credit card in some cases. The good news is that table service restaurants and other locations that use portable payment terminals will also be added, albeit only next year. For now though, this is a very important step towards allowing Google Wallet and Apple Pay to be more widely used by the public.

While the Walt Disney World Resort in Kissimmee, Florida is one of the first such places to implement a contactless payment method, it definitely won’t be the last. The Disneyland Resort in California will also offer this option sometime next year.
