Steam Receiving A Number JRPGs in 2015

Steam has seen the release of a few JRPGs in recent times. Now a few more will be coming to Steam: Fairy Fencer F and a couple of Hyperdimension Neptunia titles.

Idea Factory President Yoshiteru Sato has announced that a few of the company’s games would be coming to Steam. The games include: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1, Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 2: Sisters Generation, and Fairy Fencer F. Sato mentioned that the games will be in English, and that they will arrive in 2015. The release will likely be sometime after January, as Re;Birth 2 does not release until late January for the PS Vita. These are not the only JRPGs to reach Steam in recent times; Valkyria Chronicles and Final Fantasy XIII have also been released on Steam recently.

Hyperdimension Neptunia is a series of JRPGs that debuted in 2010. The games take place in the world of Gamindustri, which is divided into four regions representing a specific game console. These regions are: Planeptune (Sega Neptune), Lastation (PlayStation 3), Lowee (Wii), and Leanbox (Xbox 360). Each region has a goddess that represents that world. The goddesses battle each other in a war called the Console War. The franchise has spawned a number of games in the series, as well as spin-offs and remakes. There is also a manga series and an anime as well.

Fairy Fencer F is a JRPG in which warriors called “Fencers” wield weapons called “Furies.” Fairy Fencer F uses an evolved form of Hyperdimension Neptunia’s battle system. The game saw release in North America in 2014, almost a whole year after the Japanese release. The game was worked on by part of the Hyperdimension Neptunia team, with outside staff working on some parts of the game, such as Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu working on the game’s soundtrack. It was recently announced that a sequel titled Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force would be coming to the PlayStation 4 in 2015.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 is available on the PS Vita. Re;Birth 2: Sisters Generation will release on the PS Vita in late January. Fairy Fencer F is available on the PlayStation 3. All three titles will be coming to Steam sometime in 2015.
