Assassin’s Creed Movie Release Date Revealed officially

Assassin’s Creed is the hit series from developer Ubisoft. A movie based off of the series was announced awhile back, and now has received a release date.

The upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie will be hitting theatres on December 21, 2016. This is one week after the first Star Wars spinoff film by Disney. The movie will be starring Oscar-nominated actor Michael Fassbender. The movie was originally planned to release in August of 2015, but was delayed this past September. Fassbender will play the lead role, with Justin Kurzel directing the film. There is no word on who else will star in the film, or any plot details. Fassbender has mentioned that while the Assassin’s Creed film will be respectful to the games, the movie will bring new elements to the series and a new vision on what already exists in the games. Assassin’s Creed is not the only movie that Ubisoft has in development. Other titles include Watch Dogs, Splinter Cell, and Far Cry.

While the Assassin’s Creed movie will not be coming out in 2015, fans of the series will still be able to get their Assassin’s Creed fix next year. Recently, the next entry in the stealth series was leaked, giving us a taste of what is coming this year. The game is called (at least at the moment) Assassin’s Creed Victory, and will be coming to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC this fall. The game is set in 19th century London, and is being developed by Ubisoft’s office in Quebec. The game will be the only major Assassin’s Creed title this year, and will only be available on current-generation consoles. The leak was seemingly confirmed when Ubisoft provided a statement, expressing their disappointment over the game’s leak.

The free DLC for Assassin’s Creed Unity will be launching next week. The DLC will be free to all Unity users as a way for Ubisoft to apologize for the game’s buggy launch.
