New League of Legends Champion Might be a Bard?

A new League of Legends champion preview has been added to the game’s official website by Riot Games, and teases a character associated with telling tales and songs. In a small, semi-interactive story, a bard retells some of the game’s in-fiction history to a trio of apparently children, using constellations to retell certain events. The bard highlights one constellation in particular. Though this arrangement of stars is known by a couple of names, its true name is implied to mean Bard, a name which was taken on board by storytellers.

“Stories are not just history,” the bard tells the trio. “They can be so much more. They nourish your mind and, if told well, can even fill your belly. Some takes are warnings, reaching across time. Others uplift our souls from the yoke of everyday burdens.” The bard points out that there’s one important rule in story telling: The truth. While the details of a given story may vary, it’s inferred that the truth behind it must remain intact. He then added that stories themselves can be found anywhere, indicating upwards towards the night sky. The bard highlights the aforementioned constellations and briefly tells the stories behind them, such as the Frozen Watcher, the Fall of Shurima and the Shattered Crown.

Eventually he gets to the constellation whose true name is suggested to mean Bard. “There was a time, not long ago, when this constellation was absent from the night sky. Some call it the Mountain Shrines or the Great Caretaker. Those of us from the floating villages know of an older name, a name that speaks universal truth. The name we took for our kind: Bard.” The image of this bard constellation is featured above. Riot Games have yet to reveal any new information on what or who this new champion might be.

Recently, the developer’s Play team held a Q&A about the game’s newest Featured Game Mode, Nemesis. Their answers to fan’s questions shed some insight into the gamemode’s development and as well as the design decisions that went into it. A League of Legends tournament was also criticized for restrictions against LGBT players, which have now been removed.
